United Nation's Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein will visit Sri Lanka on a mutually agreed date for both parties, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Spokesperson for the Ministry, Mahishini Colonne told Ceylon Today the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights will be visiting Sri Lanka in response to an invitation handed out to him in February this year.
Media reports speculated on Zeid visiting Sri Lanka before the September session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) but Colonne would not confirm his arrival before the September session.
"Due to his tight schedule as well as ours, we have not been able to discuss a proper date for the visit but we will be discussing a mutually convenient date between both parties for the visit" she said.
The UN Human Rights Council will discuss on 30 September 2015, the much anticipated report on the war in Sri Lanka, at its 30th session.
The draft agenda of the 30th session of the UNHRC notes that the report on Sri Lanka by the UN High Commissioner of Human Rights will be submitted on 30 September, followed by a discussion.
